Choosing a first pram is easier when you picture an ordinary day: getting through the front door, loading the car and finding somewhere to keep everything when you get home. A lovely colour helps, but the right fit for your routine matters more.

Confirm exactly what comes in the bundle

Before comparing prices, ask for an itemised list for the option you intend to order: chassis, carrycot, pushchair seat, car seat, adapters and any accessories. Do not assume that every item pictured is included in the displayed price, or that a car-seat base is part of the package.

Measure your car boot and your route indoors

Measure the boot opening as well as the space inside. Ask for the folded chassis dimensions, whether the seat needs to be removed and how much room the separate carrycot takes. Leave space for the bags you normally carry.

At home, think about your narrowest doorway, lift and storage spot. If there are stairs, consider which pieces you would carry separately and where you could put them down. Bring these measurements when asking us to help compare models.

Compare the weight you will actually lift

A chassis-only figure does not tell you the weight of an assembled pram. On the current listings, the Zeo gives 9.2 kg for the structure with basket and wheels, while the Belagio gives 9.0 kg for the chassis with basket and wheels. Those figures exclude the carrycot or pushchair seat.

Rather than choosing on that small difference alone, ask to see how each model folds and which parts you would lift into your car. The shape of the folded frame and how comfortably you can hold it matter too.

Look at everyday handling

Think about your usual routes: shop aisles, pavement corners and longer walks. Check handle adjustment, wheel layout, brake operation and how the shopping basket can be reached with the seat fitted.

The Zeo listing describes front swivel wheels that can be locked for straight-ahead travel and an adjustable handle. The Belagio also lists handle adjustment. Ask about the exact wheel option supplied with your chosen set and its maintenance instructions; a feature list alone cannot tell you how a pushchair will feel to use.

Check each component separately

Read the manufacturer’s age, size and use instructions for each part of the set. Ask which configuration is intended for your baby’s current stage and what changes as they grow.

Plan for cleaning and storage

Ask which covers detach, how each fabric should be cleaned and where to find the care instructions. Check what you will do with the carrycot once you are no longer using it and whether the folded frame fits your intended storage space.
